Monica Chaves is returning to the Center for Inclusive Growth, after a four-year departure, embracing a new role as Vice President of Strategic Engagement. In this role, Monica will be responsible for overseeing the Center’s marketing and communications strategy, telling a compelling brand story and bringing visibility to the Center’s efforts.

For over two decades, Monica has dedicated her career to philanthropy, focused on identifying business opportunities and leveraging company assets to solve world problems. From 2012 to 2015, she was the Director of Global Philanthropy, setting Mastercard’s Striver strategy and advancing the company’s commitment to bring 1 million micro-entrepreneurs into the formal economy by 2020.

Most recently, Monica developed Mastercard’s global cause marketing strategy, Priceless Causes, facilitating the ability for consumers to give to meaningful causes through our technology and network. Prior to joining Mastercard, Monica held senior positions at Citigroup and the Citigroup Foundation.

At Citigroup, she led global economic development programs with key public and private partners, developed an institutional global grantmaking framework, and spearheaded the firm’s college access and success portfolio globally. She currently serves on the board of Cause Strategy Partners. Monica holds a B.A. from Baruch University and is pursuing an M.S. from Manhattanville College.
