Farms in the U.S. have traditionally relied on Mexican agricultural workers, yet a decline in this labor supply has occurred due to shifts in rural Mexico's workforce dynamics. Researchers used Mexican household survey data to analyze the relationship between farm wages and workers' likelihood to stay in the U.S. agricultural industry, finding that maintaining a constant labor supply would require a 10% inflation-adjusted wage increase over a decade, representing a substantial nominal wage increase in light of current inflation rates.
