This blog post by Danil Mikhailov, data.org's ED, recaps his main takeaways from three recent conferences. (1) AI is yesterday’s news, having been replaced by discussion of other cutting-edge “disruptive” technologies like quantum computing and biotech. (2) The current trend of both increasing commoditization of AI and narrowing of AI research makes data science training for the social impact sector all the more urgent. (3) Training/Education around data science should incorporate more subject matter-relevant skills for data and AI in public health, climate science, financial inclusion, and social justice.
