When the World Bank released the first Global Findex report in 2011, it revealed a stark reality: Only 51% of adults worldwide had access to formal financial services. Fast-forward to today and that number has surged to 79%. This represents billions of people who now have the tools to save, spend and build financial security for themselves and their families.

The MasterCard Foundation is an independent, private foundation based in Toronto, Canada. It was established through the generosity of MasterCard Worldwide at the time of the company’s initial public offering in 2006. The MasterCard Foundation advances financial inclusion and youth learning in Africa.At the Mastercard Foundation, they know that&nbsp;employment is a leading pathway out of poverty for&nbsp;young people&nbsp;and&nbsp;their families. In Africa,&nbsp;the world’s youngest&nbsp;continent,&nbsp;youth employment is a particularly important&nbsp;measure of&nbsp;poverty reduction.Africa’s young people are building a better future for the continent, but they cannot do it alone.
