When AI automates management tasks, the consequences extend into workers' control over their work. This paper identifies four use cases of algorithmic management that impact the design and quality of jobs: (1) algorithmic work-method instructions; (2) algorithmic scheduling of shifts and tasks; (3) algorithmic surveillance, evaluation and discipline; and (4) algorithmic coordination across tasks.
