Majority of Americans say that distrust is their default, fueled by growing distrust of democracy, media and government. Businesses are now the most trusted institution, as they are interpreted by the public as more competent than the government, despite an increase in trust in government observed during the pandemic. As part of the 2022 Aspen Ideas Festival, Merit Janow, Tom Wilson, Richard Edelmen and Ellen McGirt discuss the importance of trust in today's society.
