About the Center
When women gain financial security, they gain control over
their futures and the benefits ripple outward.
Through the #WhenWomenRise campaign, RISE is
demonstrating the transformative impact of digital wages
and financial literacy in the garment industry.
In Cambodia, firsthand accounts highlight how financial inclusion empowers women. Stories from garment workers demonstrate how access to digital wages enables them to save, plan, and build resilience against financial shocks.
Before digital wages, many garment workers had no choice but to store money in unsafe places, rely on others for financial transactions, or withdraw their entire salary in cash at once. Now, with access to secure digital accounts and financial training, they are making informed decisions about spending and saving, managing financial emergencies with confidence, and participating in household financial discussions.
After attending financial training, I had the confidence to manage my finances, and share my knowledge with my colleagues.”

With the money I’ve saved, if there is an emergency, I will have money for it. ”
